Ice Fishing Trip to Eagle River, WI, February 2003
In February of 2003 four good friends (Eric, Bryan, Corey, and Ed) ventured forth from Waupaca, Wisconsin and drove north 150 miles to Eagle River in the quest for a little adventure and relaxation. Read about our trip and click the thumbnails to see the larger images.
We're
here! Duck Lake Resort located in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Curiously, it is
located on Duck Lake!

It's getting dark and nothing all day. I hope those fish start biting soon!
Hey,
I think a flag is up on one of the tip-ups.
Sure
enough, we've got a bite!
Can
you believe this perch swallowed a 4 inch shiner whole?
Nope,
even when we look closer it's still a little perch instead of the mighty walleye
we are pursuing.
Good fire, good beer, good friends. The B.S. is flowing but still no big fish.
Alrighty;
we have another flag up on a tip-up!
Now
this is what we came for (besides the good times)!
Let
the celebration begin! (No, the photo is not blurry, that's just the way we
look)
The
good times continue. Looking at this photo it appears that Ed (standing on the
right) is apparently standing so close to the flames that his shoes have caught
fire. He does not appear to mind.
I
wanted to eat some walleye but these chips sure are good!
Whew,
all that hard work fishing wore me out.
Four
guys in 2 trucks, 1/2 cord of wood, 40 gallons of gas, groceries, lodging, a 3 hour
drive each way and one fish; was it worth it?- you bet! Just like
hunting, it's not always the end result that matters, but the journey along the way.
Time
to clean 'em up and head out.
